Honorary Doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa, dr. h. c.)

The Doctor Honoris Causa (dr. h. c.) represents the highest form of honorary recognition, awarded to distinguished individuals for their exceptional contributions to science, education, culture, public life, management, medicine, or other fields of human endeavour.

This honorary title is conferred upon individuals whose work has had a long-term and significant impact on the development of society, their field of expertise, or international cooperation.

Evaluation Criteria

Nominations are assessed individually with emphasis on:

  • long-term professional and societal contribution
  • international significance of activities
  • publication, scientific, or professional achievements
  • contribution to the advancement of knowledge, education, or society

Awarding Process

The evaluation process is conducted within an academic framework and relevant expert bodies, ensuring the quality and credibility of the entire procedure.

Each nomination is reviewed individually, taking into account its significance and overall contribution.

The honorary title may be awarded in particular for:

Nomination Submission

A nomination for the honorary title is submitted in the form of an application for evaluation.
